The YSRCP considered social engineering and educational qualifications while selecting the candidates

Jagan to contest from Pulivendula, 175 names announced

Kadapa: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be contesting from Pulivendula in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Saturday released candidates' names for all the 175 assembly seats at Idupulapaya in YSR Kadapa district.

YS Jagan will take on former TDP MLC M Ravindranath Reddy aka B Tech Ravi in Pulivendula, while K Bharath will contest against TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam, Murugudu Lavanya will contest against TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh in Mangalagiri and Vanga Geetha will take on Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan in Pithapuram.

Women candidates contesting against top leaders

It's interesting to note that the YSRCP is also fielding three women for MLA positions: TN Deepika in Hindupur against Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vanga Geetha in Pithapuram, and Murugudu Lavanya in Mangalagiri against Nara Lokesh.

Jagan demonstrates confidence of coming back to power

Speaking after the announcement of MLA and MP candidates, YS Jagan has demonstrated his confidence that his government will come back to power in two to three months and will uphold and broaden the social justice principles that his administration has been implementing.

Based on Profession

  • Out of the total 200 candidates selected for either MLA or MP, 77% of them, i.e. 153 candidates (131 MLA, 22 MP), are Graduates and above.
  • There are 58 Post Graduates & 6 Doctorates. There are 17 Doctors, 15 Lawyers, 34 Engineers, 5 Teachers, Civil Servants, 1 Defence personnel, 1 Journalist.
  • Out of the total 175 MLA candidates selected, 75% of them, i.e. 131 candidates are Graduates and above.
  • There are 47 Post Graduates & 4 Doctorates. In MLA - 13 Doctors, 11 Lawyers, 34 Engineers, 5 Teachers, 2 Civil Servants, 1 Defence personnel, 1 Journalist and 14 seats to leaders from Local bodies or (Like ZPTC, MPTC, Sarpanch, Karyakartha)
  • Out of the total 25 MP candidates selected, 88% of them, i.e. 22 candidates are Graduates and above.
  • There are 11 Post Graduates & 2 Doctorates. In MP, 4 Doctors, 4 Lawyers, 1 Charted Accountant, 1 Medical Practitioner.

In Sights

  • 50% of total seats (MLA plus MP), i.e 100 seats (84 MLA, 16 MP) are given to BC/SC/ST/Minority communities
  • In 175 MLA seats, the distribution is as below SC- 29, ST-7,BC-48, OC- 91. There are 7 minorities and 19 women
  • In 25 MP seats, the distribution is as below SC- 4, ST-1 ,BC-11, OC-9. There are 5 women
  • In 200 MLA & MP seats, the distribution is as below SC- 33, ST-8, BC-59, OC- 100. There are 7 minorities and 24 women
  • There is a significant increase in the representation given to SC, ST, BC and Minority communities when compared to 2019. A total of 11 more seats are given to these communities. Taking up the number of seats to SC/ST/BC/Minorities community to 50%
