Amaravati: Ending speculations on early elections in Andhra Pradesh, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dropped a hint that the elections will be held on time.
Sources from Chief Minister Office (CMO) said, post cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the CM held a discussion with the ministers. Boosting the confidence of the ministers ahead of the elections, Jagan said, “Work hard for another nine months, and I will take care of the rest.” During the meeting, Jagan asked the ministers to work hard, especially on the government schemes such as Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam. He assured confidence that it will help YSRCP to win again.
This hint by Jagan Mohan Reddy clearly indicates that there would be no early elections in Andhra Pradesh. Political rumours over early elections went on after Jagan Mohan Reddy recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It may be noted that in 2019, the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued the notification for the General Elections in March, 19. Date of poll was held on April 11, and the counting was held on May 23. The 2019 elections was held in a single phase on 11 April for 175 assemblies and 25 parliamentary constituencies.
