Jubilee Hills gang-rape: Cops say MLA's son was in Mercedes Benz but was not part of the crime
The police said since the MLA’s son did not board the Innova, they have not taken any action against him.

However, the police said he did not rape the girl and was not present in the Innova where the crime took place.
The police said since the MLA's son did not board the Innova, they have not taken any action against him.
"We will record the victim's statement once she is better and take necessary action. If she says that the MLA's son was involved then action will be taken against him," the police said.
After a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car in Jubilee Hills on Saturday, an official told NewsMeter that the car was registered on 21 March 2020 and the owner of the vehicle is Nahin Fatima Khatoon. The red Mercedes Benz CLA200D BSIV was registered at the Road Transport Authority (RTA), Hyderabad-CZ (central zone).
According to the cops, the victim was picked up by the Mercedes and then shifted to an Innova where the incident reportedly took place.
Regarding the leak of a viral video of the victim by Opposition party leaders, the police said that it's possible that the accused spread the video "only to prove that the MLA's son is involved" and "to show that the girl participated in the act with her consent."
BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao, during a press conference held on Saturday, showed stills from the video alleging that a politician's son was present in the car. The video was shared on multiple social media platforms following this. The MLA also alleged that the crime took place in the Mercedes and not the Innova, contrary to what the police are saying.
West zone DCP Joel Davis, however, confirmed that the crime took place in the Innova as per the victim's statements.
He also ruled out rumors that the four people who have been arrested are affiliated with politicians. "Only one minor is affiliated with a politician and he has already been apprehended," the DCP said.
So far, four out of the five accused have been arrested in the case.
