Kadapa court raises alarm over political, media meddling in legal cases involving Jagan

Kadapa: “No one is entitled to step into the shoes of the court and give their verdict,” said the Kadapa district court judge on Thursday. The court issued an interim injunction to some leaders to restrain themselves, their party cadre and their contesting candidates from making any personal attacks and criticising the YSR Congress Party based on unverified allegations or distortions or regarding pending cases in courts.

This comes to light after it came to be known that some top leaders are raising questions on chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s role in the murder of YS Vivekananda, and his motive behind protecting the alleged culprit, YS Avinash Reddy.

YSRCP Kadapa president Suresh Babu filed a petition in the Kadapa court against the allegations. The defendants in the case are YS Sharmila, Suneetha Narreddy, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, Daggubati Purandeshwari, Konedala Pawan Kalyan and M Ravindranath Reddy

‘Maintain decent levels of public disclosure’

The defendants are directed to maintain decent levels of public discourse and strictly adhere to the prevailing election Model Code of Conduct in Andhra Pradesh issued by the Election Commission of India to focus on their own party agenda and criticise the failures of other parties.

The principal district judge G Sridevi of Kadapa District, on careful analysis of the documents, filed by the petitioners/plaintiffs, more particularly the videos and newspaper clips made available on various social media platforms and print and electronic media, propagated openly that Avinash was murdered his uncle Viveka and roaming freely in the society.

The court specifically restrained any propagation labelling Avinash Reddy as the murderer of his uncle and any assertions regarding Jagan Mohan Reddy shielding him through any medium, including print, electronic, and social media platforms.

‘No one can comment on ongoing cases’

“This court is of the considered opinion that when a case is pending before a competent court for adjudication, no one is entitled to step into the shoes of the court themselves with no authorisation and give their verdict and term any of the person so involved in such case as the murderer/guilty person according to their whims and fancies,” stated the court order.

The court further directed to remove all objectionable remarks previously made against YSRCP president Jagan, YS Avinash Reddy (proposed contesting candidate for Kadapa Parliamentary Constituency) in various social media platforms with immediate effect.

YS Viveka was found dead at his residence on March 15, 2019, at Pulivendula in Kadapa District. Initially, the case was investigated by the local police and subsequently the case was transferred and handed over to the CBI for further investigation. In this connection, Avinash Reddy was summoned by the CBI for questioning. Avinash Reddy also obtained anticipatory bail in the murder case from Telangana High Court. The murder case is pending before the CBI Court in Nampally.

The ad-interim injunction will remain in force until April 30.
