Kadapa horror: Inter student dies after being set on fire by stalker

Kadapa: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old Intermediate student who was set ablaze by a man, who broke up with her a few months ago and got married in Kadapa district, succumbed to injuries on Sunday.

The victim died while undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa. In her dying declaration, the students stated that the accused Vignesh set fire to her when she asked him about their marriage.

The incident occurred on Saturday near Badvel town.

According to police, the accused Vignesh recently married another woman but wanted to maintain a relationship with the victim. On Saturday, he demanded she meet, threatening to kill himself. The victim agreed to meet and boarded an autorickshaw from her college.

After she travelled some distance, Vignesh joined her. They reached a place near Century Plywood factory, about 10 km from Badvel.

During their conversation, the accused poured petrol on her and set her on fire. The victim suffered 80 per cent burn injuries and succumbed Sunday morning. The district judge recorded her statement at RIMS.

The accused was arrested on Saturday night.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to set up a fast-track court for an expeditious trial of the case. He also asked officials to make sure the culprit gets the death penalty for his heinous crime.
