Anantapur: A rally celebrating KV Usha Sri Charan's induction into the Andhra Pradesh cabinet claimed the life of a child in Kalyan Durgam constituency of Anantapur district. KV Usha was given a portfolio of Children, Differently abled, and Senior Citizens

Reports said a rally celebrating her induction into the cabinet was organized by her supporters in the Kalyan Durgam constituency.

Her supporters had blocked all the roads. A child from Cherlopalli village needed immediate medical attention. Her parents called up an ambulance, but the minister's supporters did not allow it to pass.

The parents took the child to the hospital on a bike. However, by the time they reached the hospital, the child had died.

Later her parents, Ganesh and Eeswaramma, staged a protest demanding justice. They asked chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to intervene.


Will you explain? Naidu to police

TDP national president N Chandra Babu Naidu blamed the minister's supporters for the infant's death. He sought an explanation from the police. "The persons in high positions in the YCP government are responsible for the child's death. They stopped traffic and did not allow ambulances to pass", he said.

Naidu said the untimely death of a child has shattered the Dalit couple. Naidu strongly criticized Minister K.V. Usha Sri Charan.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Anantapur District Fakerappa Kaginelli released a statement saying, "There were allegations made that the death of an 8-month-old baby due to ill health has been due to police barricading, who stopped their vehicle at the check post. But as per the CCTV footage, it took 38 minutes, covering 20 km from Cherlopalli village to Rural Development Trust (RDT) hospital".

The statement said, the parents along with the baby started from their village at 6.10 pm and were found near Brahamayya temple police checked the post near to Minister's home at around 6.36 pm. They reached Kalyan Durgam at 6.40 pm and reached the hospital at 6.48 pm. She was declared dead at 7.18 pm. They protested on the road at 8.15 pm.

The SP told that the public is misled by wrong information spread about the incident. Fake information is being spread, disturbing the law and order.
