Kavitha’s statement: Telangana Congress leaders say BRS-BJP bonhomie finally becomes public

Hyderabad: K Kavitha statement to the media has created a political stir in Telangana

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Member of Legislative Council Kalvakuntla Kavitha’s allegations of BRS being merged with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has created a political stir in Telangana.

Her media interaction on Thursday morning has also brought about questions of whether Congress orchestrated the issue—KCR family politics and property issues of Kavitha with her brother and BRS working president and MLA KT Rama Rao.

Congress refutes any role in Kavitha’s statement

Does Telangana Congress have a role to play in the outburst of K Kavitha? Telangana Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud spoke to NewsMeter: “Congress has nothing to do with the statement of K Kavitha. We would not like to comment on the internal politics of BRS party.”

The politics of BRS and BJP

MLC Kavita’s statement to the media in her chitchat has created a stir in the political circles. “The fact that BRS was planning a merger with the BJP shows that they were always working for each other,” said Congress Member of Parliament Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Reddy further said, “Kavita has today confirmed to the people of Telangana what we suspected all this while. BRS and the BJP are one only. Today, KCR’s daughter Kavitha has herself told everyone about their alliance and soft approach towards the BJP.”

Syed Nizamuddin, a senior Congress leader, said, “BRS and the BJP were together in passing the bills in the Parliament. Now also, BRS is helping the BJP. Take the case of the Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP MPs got all the help from BRS. Even in the recent MLC elections, it was extremely clear that BRS was helping the BJP. Today, Kavita has just made it all open by her public statement.”

Politics and property

Other analysts and political leaders found two major points in the issues raised by Kavitha: her political career in BRS and the division of property of the KCR family.

A senior leader with a political party explained, “The total declared property of BRS is Rs 1,300 crores. There are about another Rs 1,000 crores which are not declared. They are in the form of shell companies, benami and others. Kavitha is fighting for an equal share in the property. Her contention is that she has also fought equally for the struggle of a separate Telangana and must get her rightful share. She wants her father, KCR, to come clear on that.”

Another analyst explained, “Political career or survival of Kavitha is also a concern. She has not been able to get the backing of the party the way her brother KTR gets. She is upset about that and has been raising the issue from time to time. The interaction with the media was to build pressure on her father, KCR. Will it work? That’s a big question.”

The political scene in Telangana takes a new turn as the first official rift in the KCR family comes out in the open. With BRS leaders maintaining silence, it is clear that this is going to be the beginning of the alignment of leaders in different political parties.
