KCR calls for public meeting in Feb, slams Congress government for ‘bankrupting’ Telangana

BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has lashed out at the Congress government for its inefficiency in implementing poll promises to the people of Telangana.

KCR announces a public meeting by February-end

KCR also announced that he would swing into direct action and address a public meeting by the end of February while addressing the activists of Zaheerabad Assembly Constituency at his Erravalli farmhouse in Gajwel on Friday.

Addressing the party cadres, the BRS chief expressed major dissatisfaction with the state government’s performance.

“People are dissatisfied with Congress, even after a year in power. “I am just seriously quietly watching. If I strike (political moves), you know, it would not be ordinary. I am just giving them four days' time ( some time). I’ve seen a lot of governments, but never one like this. Within a year, people had turned against Congress. If Congress leaders show up, people are prepared to confront and attack them,” he stated.

'Congress misgovernance affecting students in gurukuls'

Taking aim at the Congress’s recent social media survey, which asked individuals to choose between ‘farmhouse’ control and people-friendly governance, KCR stated that the majority of Telangana residents have chosen the BRS rule. He accused Congress leaders of financially bankrupting the state, citing that education in gurukuls is suffering and students are being provided poor-quality food due to which numerous parents have taken their children home.

He claimed that as per the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, the state government’s revenues dropped by Rs 13,000 crore this year and it is expected to decline till the end of this fiscal.

He alleged that if the trend continues the state government will slip into a position where it will not be able to pay salaries also in the next three to four months.

KCR recalled his statements during the elections, saying, “I warned people during the elections, but they didn’t listen and voted for Congress out of greed.”

‘Only the BRS will fight for Telangana’

“I warned people that Rythu Bandhu would be ‘Ram Ram’ and ‘Jai Bhim’ to Dalit Bandhu, but now they’re regretting it. People voted for Congress anticipating 10 gm of gold but received nothing. Our victory is guaranteed in the coming days. Only BRS will fight for Telangana. No one else will come. Our success should be the success of Telangana’s people,” said KCR.

The former chief minister also urged BRS cadres to prepare for direct action against the Congress government, which would not go down without a fight. Highlighting the government’s failings, he stated that land prices have plummeted dramatically under the Congress administration.

‘Irrigation projects stalled’

“Several important projects, including Sangameshwar, Basaveshwar and Kaleshwaram have stopped. Why hasn’t the government put out tenders for the Sangameshwar and Basaveshwar lift irrigation projects? These projects are being purposefully ignored by the government. People may perceive reality as it emerges."

In response to the Congress’ criticism about ‘farmhouse governance’, KCR said, “They keep talking about my farmhouse, but what else is there except crops? Congress uses Muslims just for electoral purposes. Congress is widely viewed as unpopular. They have let down every segment of society. If we challenge their failings, they file cases against us.”
