He underwent a total hip replacement surgery conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of specialist doctors on December 8.
A video grab released on Friday showed the senior BRS national leader being wheeled out of the hospital in the presence of the doctors and staff. He was driven away in a car amidst a huge crowd of supporters who had gathered outside the hospital premises.
When asked about his health condition and post-operative care, Yashoda Hospital sources said, āSince KCRās health condition has improved and he has responded well to the surgery, the doctors considered him fit for discharge. However, it would take at least another six weeks for his complete recovery. Meanwhile, physiotherapy and prescribed medications will continue. He might come for a follow-up after six weeks. KCR should also avoid public appearances, moving around too much and taking stress till he recovers fully, which would take nearly two months.ā
Immediately a day after his surgery, as per standard international practice guidelines of early ambulation, which prescribes that the patient be made to walk within 12 hours of surgery, KCR was mobilized from the bed and was made to walk under the supervision of the operating orthopaedic surgeon and physiotherapy team.
He has been given a schedule of exercises for his rehabilitation to aid speedy recovery.
