Hyderabad: As Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) celebrates 22 years, party president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao launched the formation day celebrations on Thursday.

This is the first formation day after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) changed its name to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

KCR hoisted the BRS flag at Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, to formally inaugurate the formation day celebrations.

He held a general body meeting addressing about 300 BRS MPs, MLAs, and MLCs, and about eight resolutions were passed at the meeting. Some of the resolutions passed include establishing Rythu Rajyam in the country, building at least one huge water project in every state, 24-hour power supply, exporting food products with the country’s brand, implementing the Dalit Bandhu scheme, and providing large-scale infrastructure.

Speaking to the party members, KCR made it clear that the elections will be held as per the schedule and stated that tickets will be given only to those who have worked well. He expressed confidence that BRS will win more than a hundred seats in the next election.

“Two public representatives should be appointed for each constituency and the appointment of in-charges should be completed in three to four months,” KCR told the party members.

The formation of TRS

TRS, now renamed BRS, was started by KCR on 27 April 2001 after resigning from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to revive the movement for Telangana statehood.

Telangana came into existence as a separate state on 2 June 2014. BRS formed the first government in the new state and retained power in 2018.

In the last few weeks, BRS held party meetings called Athmeeya Sammelan across the state to discuss the development achieved by the state under BRS rule, welfare schemes being implemented by the state government, and the programmes undertaken by the party.
