Kharge: PM Modi did nothing for Hyderabad, ignored Manipur, stopped Operation Sindoor midway

Hyderabad: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised prime minister Narendra Modi, stating that he has done nothing for Hyderabad despite being in power for a decade.

Speaking at the ā€˜Congress Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri’ public meeting, held at LB Stadium on Thursday, Kharge praised the Congress government in Telangana for fulfilling its promises within months of coming to power.

ā€˜Congress came to power because of workers’ efforts’

Kharge credited the party’s victory to its cadre.

ā€œCongress workers are the real reason behind the party’s success in Telangana. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and all leaders worked together to defeat BRS and form the government.ā€

ā€˜Promises being implemented systematically’

Highlighting key initiatives, Kharge said, ā€œAfter coming to power, Congress provided free bus travel for women in Telangana. The Revanth Reddy-led government is giving subsidised rice to the poor. Under Rythu Bharosa, Rs 8,200 crore has been deposited directly into farmers’ accounts.ā€

He accused the previous KCR government of betraying farmers, women and youth, while alleging that PM Modi and Amit Shah misled people with false promises at the national level.

First State to initiate a caste census

Kharge said Telangana has become the first State to start a caste census. ā€œThe Congress government is bringing a law to protect the rights of gig workers. We are also working to ensure reservations for backward classes.ā€

Why did Modi stop Operation Sindoor, asks Kharge

Criticising PM Modi’s foreign policy approach, Kharge questioned, ā€œCongress and Rahul Gandhi fully supported Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. Why did PM Modi stop the operation midway when US president Trump called him? Indira Gandhi never feared such threats. She and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country. Has anyone from the BJP or RSS done that?ā€

ā€˜Why ignore the Manipur crisis?’

Kharge accused the prime minister of ignoring the violence in Manipur.

ā€œThe PM travelled to 42 countries but didn’t visit Manipur. Doesn’t he consider it part of India? Aren’t Manipuris Indian citizens? Rahul Gandhi and I went there, but PM Modi didn’t.ā€

ā€˜Cannot remove ā€˜secular’ and ā€˜socialist’ from Constitution’

He warned the BJP and RSS against attempts to alter the Constitution.

ā€œNo one can remove words like secular and socialist from it. PM Modi should first listen to people’s problems before focusing on foreign affairs. He didn’t attend the all-party meeting as he was busy campaigning for the Bihar elections.ā€

We broke KCR’s fortress: CM Revanth Reddy

CM Revanth Reddy, who attended the event, also addressed the gathering. He declared that the Congress party had ā€˜broken the KCR fortress by holding the Tricolour high.’ He also said the government was ruling with compassion, touching every heart.

ā€˜Confident of winning 100 Assembly seats’

CM Revanth expressed confidence that Congress would return to power in the next elections by winning 100 Assembly seats.

ā€œEven if we fall short by a single seat, I will take full responsibility,ā€ he said. He added that the party’s strength in Parliament would also increase and promised that women’s reservations would be implemented.

Caste Census and SC classification completed

Rejecting critics’ claims that Congress leaders could not stay united, CM Revanth said the party had silenced such rumours through collective efforts.

ā€œRahul Gandhi promised a caste census and SC classification. We fulfilled it within a year. In 18 months, we unveiled the Telangana Model as an example for the entire country,ā€ he stated.

Rs 1.04 lakh crore spent on farmers

Highlighting his government’s focus on agriculture, CM Revanth said Rs 1.04 lakh crore had been spent for farmers in 18 months. ā€œThe previous CM said sowing paddy was like hanging oneself. Now, we produced 2.80 crore metric tonnes of paddy, setting an example for the nation,ā€ he said.

Open challenge to KCR, Modi, Kishan Reddy

CM Revanth threw an open challenge to his political rivals. ā€œI am ready to debate anywhere on who ensured farmers’ welfare. KCR, Modi, Kishan Reddy – anyone can come. We gave 60,000 government jobs in the first year itself. If you want proof, I will gather them in the stadium for you to count. If even one person is missing, I will fall at your feet and apologise,ā€ he declared.
