Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against BRS working president and MLA Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR).
The case was registered by Hanamkonda police. However, it was later transferred to Banjara Hills police station due to jurisdictional reasons.
According to Banjara Hills police, Bathini Srinivasa Rao, a member of the Pradesh Congress Committee from Hanamkonda, filed a complaint alleging that KTR made defamatory statements at the BRS Party office in Banjara Hills on March 27.
According to Rao's complaint, Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao purportedly accused Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana, of embezzling Rs. 2500 crore from contractors and builders and sending the funds to Delhi Congress leaders.
Rao contends that such accusations aim to tarnish the reputation of the Congress party and mislead the people of Telangana. Additionally, Rao claims that Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao insinuated that after the Lok Sabha elections, Revanth Reddy intends to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, which further denigrates the Chief Minister without evidence.
These allegations, made without substantiation, raise concerns about potential disturbances to public peace and the exacerbation of inter-party animosity. Consequently, Bathini Srinivasa Rao has urged the police to take appropriate action under the law.
A First Information Report (FIR) was filed at the Hanamkonda police station and subsequently transferred to the Banjara Hills police station due to jurisdictional reasons. The case has been registered under sections 504 and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
