KTR’s Mission Delhi: War of words breaks out between Congress, BRS
Downplaying the hype over KTR’s visit to the national capital and his meetings with Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Hardeep Singh Puri, Revanth described this as an attempt to safeguard his father’s position back home.
By Md Nizamuddin Published on 26 Jun 2023 5:20 AM GMTHyderabad: A bitter war of words has broken out between Congress and BRS over KTR’s `Mission Delhi’.
PCC chief A Revanth Reddy alleged that KT Rama Rao’s two-day Delhi visit was aimed at squashing the IT cases. It evoked a strong reaction from BRS which blamed Telangana's Congress leadership for ‘selling en bloc’ to BJP after the PCC chief took charge about two years back.
Revanth makes grave allegations against KCR
Buoyed by the new entrants into the party, the PCC chief on Sunday alleged that the recent IT raids particularly against the businesses owned by the Kalvakuntla family have rattled BRS leadership and forced them to completely surrender to the BJP.
“Delhi visit of KTR was aimed at persuading BJP top brass to end IT raids on businesses owned by BRS MLAs and MPs,” alleged Revanth while welcoming a few leaders from BRS and BJP from Maheshwaram at an event held at his residence in Jubilee Hills.
Talk of development is a smokescreen
Downplaying the hype over KTR’s visit to the national capital and his meetings with Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Hardeep Singh Puri, Revanth described this as an attempt to safeguard his father’s position back home.
“Delhi visit of KTR has nothing to do with development projects at Cantonment area, Metro Rail nor for the sake of State’s interest. It was KTR’s bid to protect the position of KCR in the wake of IT raids, where vital information regarding undisclosed properties was uncovered. They were able to manage to avoid media glare. KCR has surrendered himself to retrieve the same properties,” he alleged.
KTR avoids confrontation with Revanth this time
KTR regularly indulges in countering Revanth’s allegations this time avoiding confrontation with the latter. Rather this time the party engaged a former Congress leader to take on Revanth. Strongly reacting to the statements by Revanth, BRS senior leader Dasoju Sravan lashed out and felt that it was the PCC chief who has colluded with BJP to sabotage the leadership of KCR and obstruct the growth of Telangana.
Cong 'sold en bloc to BJP', alleges BRS
Coming down heavily on Revanth Reddy for Congress MP's comments on KTR's Delhi visit, Sravan alleged that Telangana Congress has been ‘sold en bloc’ to BJP after Revanth Reddy became TPCC chief.
"Revanth Reddy who has colluded with BJP and sold Telangana Congress party en bloc to BJP made baseless and senseless comments on KTR's Delhi visit. Even without having any basic idea of federalism and Centre-state relationship, Revanth Reddy said that KTR visited Delhi for cases. Is this the way a responsible MP speaks? Even senior Congress leaders like Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, Madhya Pradesh CM Bhupesh Bhagel, and others also met PM Modi. Did they meet Modi to get cases squashed? Unfortunately, an immoral and mean leader like Revanth Reddy is heading Congress which has a rich history,” the former Congress leader questioned.
KTR tried his best to leave scope for speculation
KTR who tried his best not to leave scope for any speculations during his two-day visit to Delhi, regularly updated the developments on Twitter. He tried to explain clearly how the two-day visit was fruitful with Hardeep Singh Puri, where he sought the Union government’s assistance for the Metro extension and other important projects.
He also emphasized how he tried to resolve issues with Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh. “Met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and reiterated the issue of expediting the transfer of defence lands for various road infrastructure projects in Hyderabad City,” he tweeted on June 23.
