KTR slams Modi ahead of BJP rally in Mahabubnagar, says Centre ignored Palamuru project
KTR also rejected the Centre’s One Nation One Election option as an election gimmick by PM Modi and termed the new delimitation of territorial constituencies unjust.
By Coreena Suares Published on 26 Sep 2023 12:22 PM GMTHyderabad: “Why are you coming to Mahabubnagar after spewing venom on Telangana in the Parliament? You are coming here only to hunt for votes.” BRS working president and minister KT Rama Rao criticised prime minister Narendra Modi, ahead of the latter’s party rally in Mahabubnagar.
While addressing a host of issues in the state during a press meeting in Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, KTR demanded the Centre to accord National Project status to Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation and Kaleshwaram projects. “The Centre has only given the Palamuru project many difficulties by denying permissions many times,” KTR said.
Speaking about the sharing of Krishna waters, KTR said that the dispute about sharing has not been settled even after 10 years. He demanded Telangana’s share of water from Krishna come to Palamuru. “We went to the Supreme Court to settle the dispute. However, it is believed that Gajendra Singh Shekhawat withdrew the case, and on the first day of the new Parliament, BJP spewed venom on Telangana. This is because the BJP leaders are jealous that Palamuru is turning green. BJP has betrayed Telangana,” said KTR.
‘Didn’t a BJP state chief become Telangana governor?’
Speaking about Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejecting BRS MLC nominations, KTR said, “If the governor had thought with her heart, she would not have done this. Dasoju is a professor and well-educated, and K Satyanarayana is from a tribal community in a trade union at the district level. Is having an affiliation with a political party wrong? Didn’t a state BJP president in Tamil Nadu become the governor of Telangana?”
KTR also rejected the Centre’s One Nation One Election option as an election gimmick by PM Modi and termed the new delimitation of territorial constituencies unjust. “The people of South India will unite and take the issue to the notice of Delhi. We hope wisdom will prevail,” he said.
‘Telangana not concerned with Naidu’s arrest’
KTR said that TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest in the Skill Development Corporation scam is Andhra Pradesh’s matter and it is not concerned with Telangana.

“It is an issue between two political parties in Andhra Pradesh and the BRS has nothing to do with it. If they want to take out a rally, they can in Rajahmundry, Amaravati or Vijayawada but not in Hyderabad as it will law and order issue,” KTR clarified.
KTR said that the BRS doesn’t have any enmity with anyone in Andhra Pradesh and that Nara Lokesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Pawan Kalyan are their friends.
