Visakhapatnam: Most parts of Andhra Pradesh continued to be scorched with maximum temperature hovering over 40 degrees Celsius while surprisingly, few other parts have been witnessing thunderstorms and lightning deaths.
The temperature in Kurnool shot up to 43.1 degrees Celsius on Monday afternoon, recording the 2022 Summer season's highest so far, and it literally sent the people in the Kurnool scurrying home for cool shelter. On Tuesday also Kurnool experienced the hottest day in the state with 42.2 degrees Celsius.
The day temperatures in Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Tirupati, Nandigama, Amaravati, and Jangamaheswarapuram in Andhra Pradesh shot up above 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
On the other side, parts of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR), Manyam Parvathipuram, and a few other districts witnessed heavy rain with gales and lighting.
Sai Praneeth, popularly known as AP Weatherman, who provides real-time weather forecasts for all districts in the state, mentioned that High-Intensity Thunderstorms from the ASR district are perfectly moving down towards the Rampachodavaram belt. These storms are highly insane once and can pour hail everywhere. He also warned about another storm forming in the Nandyal district.
It may be recalled that four persons, including two women farm labourers, died after they were struck by lightning in Adoni of Kurnool district in the state during a rain a few days ago. The lighting claimed three lives in the ASR district in the past few days.
The Meteorological department at Amaravati, in its forecast, mentioned that the day temperature in parts of the state will shoot up by 1 or 2 degrees Celsius above the normal in the next two days. It also forecasted light rains and thundershowers in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at a few places in the coming two days.
We have been experiencing two types of weather in a day for the past few days. During the daytime (till afternoon) we are witnessing the hot weather and, in the evening, we are witnessing thunderstorms accompanied by lighting, says M Prasad, a resident of the ASR district in the state.
The people in the Rayalaseema region, like in most parts of the state, experienced hot weather conditions with temperatures recording above 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicted temperatures to rise above 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
