‘Kursi Bachao Budget’: CM Revanth to raise issues on Union Budget in Assembly

Hyderabad: Stating that there has been no mention or benefits provided to Telangana in the Union Budget 2024-25 presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitaram on Tuesday, chief minister Revanth Reddy said he will raise the issue in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

CM A Revanth Reddy along with Telangana ministers had a press conference here regarding the alleged deprivation of Telangana in the Union Budget.

“KCR must participate in this debate in the Assembly on the rights and funds to Telangana. If not, we can assume that KCR bent or surrendered before prime minister Narendra Modi.”

Revanth calls for another Telangana movement to fight for rights

Taking a dig at PM Narendra Modi for not giving any benefits to Telangana as per the Andhra Pradesh Re-Organisation Act, CM Revanth said, “Another movement will begin against the Central government for depriving the state of its due rights.”

The CM added, “I met PM Modi thrice and requested funds for the development of Telangana. I received him and said PM Modi is like an elder brother and should ensure Telangana gets its rights. But this budget is only to save his chair – it’s a Kurchi Bachao (save the chair) budget.”

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy along with his ministers met the Union ministers for Telangana in the last seven months. Despite assurances given by the ministers, there has been no allocation of funds for the State.

‘All Telangana MPs must protest’

Reddy said, “I request the eight BJP MPs, the AIMIM MP and the Congress MPs to protest in the Parliament against this discrimination towards the State.”

Reddy asked, “Why is PM Modi not ready to take the name of Telangana?” He stated that they are not against the Centre for giving special funds to Andhra Pradesh but strongly condemned the ‘discrimination towards Telangana.’

The state has eight BJP MPs but no benefits, he rued. Union Minister for Mines G Kishan Reddy must resign from the Cabinet for this injustice done to the state, said CM Revanth Reddy.

What is for Telangana in the Act?

According to the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, the demand is for:

- Railway Coach Factory in Kazipet

- Steel Factory at Bayyaram

- Funds for the Tribal University

- Funds for high-speed road and rail connectivity

- Other funds
