Hyderabad: From fighting terrorists in Kashmir to Telangana CID chief, Charu Sinha has come a long way to live up to her sobriquet of `Lady Singham’.

A 1996 batch IPS officer from the Telangana cadre, Charu Sinha, served as Inspector General (IG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Srinagar in 2020. She was posted in Srinagar at a time when the valley was experiencing renewed stone pelting, terrorism, and separatist-sponsored protests. She navigated the challenges and helped to bring peace and order to the restive Kashmir.

Raised in 2005, Srinagar Sector is responsible for three districts- Budgam, Ganderbal, and Srinagar, with 22 operational units. CRPF Srinagar sector started functioning soon after BSF was de-inducted from Kashmir. Srinagar Sector includes two ranges, 22 executive units, and three Mahila companies. The Srinagar Sector has administrative control over the Group Centre-Srinagar. It also has jurisdiction over the union territory of Ladakh.

After her repatriation to her parent cadre, she has been posted as Additional Director General of Police, CID, Telangana, Hyderabad, vice Shikha Goel. She will also hold the post of Additional Director General of Police, Women Safety, SHE Teams, and Bharosa, Hyderabad, till further orders.

This is not the first time she has been given an important assignment. Earlier, she worked as IG CRPF, Bihar sector, where she took on Naxals. Under her leadership, various anti-Naxals operations were carried out. She was shifted to Jammu, where she spent a successful tenure. Later, she became the first woman officer to head the CRPF, Srinagar sector.

Abhilasha Bisht (IPS 1994), who was waiting for posting, has been posted as Director, RBVRR TGPA, Hyderabad, relieving V.V. Srinivasa Rao (IPS 1995) from full additional charge.

Shikha Goel (IPS 1994), Director General of Police, CID, Hyderabad, HFAC Director, TG Cyber Security Bureau, Hyderabad, and in-charge Director, TG FSL & Women Safety, SHE Teams & Bharosa, Hyderabad, has been transferred and posted as Director, TG Cyber Security Bureau, Hyderabad. She has also been given full additional charge of the post of Director, TG FSL, until further orders.

Tafseer Iqubal, (IPS 2008), Special Secretary to Government, Minorities Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Zone VI, Charminar.

D.V. Srinivasa Rao (IPS 2013), Superintendent of Police, Koumrambheem Asifabad District, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Medak District.

Patil Kantilal Subhash (IPS 2020), Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Zone, Hyderabad City, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Koumrambheem Asifabad District, vice D.V. Srinivasa Rao (IPS 2013).

S. Chaitanya Kumar, (IPS 2020), Deputy Commissioner of Police, SB, Hyderabad City, has been transferred and posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Zone, Hyderabad City, vice Patil Kantilal Subhash, (IPS 2020).




After the appointment of a new Chief Secretary, all eyes are now on the appointment of the new Director General of Police. Though many names of senior IPS officers are making rounds, Telangana Intelligence Chief Shivdhar Reddy and Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand are considered to be frontrunners.
