Land registrations in Telangana to get easier from Oct 2 with licensed surveyors
Hyderabad: Licensed surveyor services will be made available across Telangana from October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, announced Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday.
The initiative, he said, will play a pivotal role in ensuring transparency and efficiency in land records management.
Training of surveyors in two phases
Reviewing the progress with officials, the Minister said the first phase of training for surveyors has been completed, while the second phase is set to begin on August 18 at 23 district centres.
Candidates have been instructed to report to the Assistant Director of the Survey Department in their respective districts by 10 am on that day.
He recalled that nearly 7,000 candidates underwent intensive training for 50 working days between May 26 and July 26 at various district centres. Practical examinations for these candidates were held under the supervision of JNTU on July 28 and 29, with results declared soon after.
Apprenticeship and licensing
Currently, apprenticeship training is being conducted for successful candidates. Upon completion of this phase, licenses will be issued, enabling them to operate as certified surveyors across the State.
To ensure uniformity in operations, the Minister directed officials to prepare a comprehensive survey manual that would serve as a reference document and reinforce transparency.
Mandatory for land registrations
Reddy underlined the importance of the initiative, pointing out that survey maps have now been made mandatory for land registrations under the Land Act. He said the availability of licensed surveyors will streamline this process and reduce disputes arising out of land records and registrations.
Reviving a neglected department
Emphasising the significance of strengthening the Survey Department, the Minister said, “There is an inseparable link between the Revenue and Survey Departments. Strengthening the latter will help deliver better services in the revenue system.”
He noted that the Survey Department had been neglected for nearly a decade, which hampered the efficiency of the Revenue system. The government, he assured, is committed to reviving, modernising and strengthening the department to better serve people and address long-pending land issues.
