Landmark Decision: Centre to hold CAPF recruitment test in Telugu, 12 other languages

Constable (General Duty) examination for CAPF to be conducted in 13 regional languages

New Delhi: Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to hold Constable (General Duty) examination for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English.

The examination will be conducted from January 1, 2024, onwards.

Press Information Bureau stating issued a formal release saying the decision has been taken at the initiative of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah to encourage regional language and allow local youth to join CAPF.

The languages approved for the entrance test include:

Assamese

Bengali

Gujarati

Marathi

Malayalam

Kannada

Tamil

Telugu

Odia

Urdu

Punjabi

Manipuri

Konkani

The decision will prove a lifeline to lakhs of aspirants who wanted to write examinations in their mother tongue/regional language and improve their selection prospects.

Ministry of Home Affairs and Staff Selection Commission would sign an addendum to the existing MoU to facilitate the conduct of the examination in multiple Indian languages.

Constable GD is one of the flagship examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission attracting lakhs of candidates from across the country.

The state and UT governments are expected to launch a wide campaign encouraging local youth to use this opportunity of taking the examination in their mother tongue and join the forces.
