Hyderabad: In her first address to the party leaders, senior members and cadre on Friday, Telangana All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan asked the party to popularise the programs of the government and work for the poor. Those who are in positions of power must work for the people, she reminded the leaders.
Natarajan, who came by train from New Delhi, asked party workers not to lift her bags or give her VIP treatment. She said, āI can do my work. If I need help, I will ask.ā
āWork for the poor and protect the Constitutionā
āWe are in the government, and we must work for the poor. We should see a smile on their faces, and that will speak volumes about our work.ā
Appealing to the Congress workers, she said, āCongress workers have a lot of fighting power, and we have fought in many ways. Congress leader Rahul Gandhiās Bharat Jodo Yatra has prepared the ground to protect the Constitution, and we must fight to protect it. We must fight the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharat Rashtra Samithi.ā
Popularise and promote the programs, Congress cadre told
Natarajan spoke about the welfare programs the Telangana Congress government has introduced during its current term. Programs such as the free bus ride scheme for women, where the government has spent Rs 4,200 crores, and the schemes regarding providing 200 units of free electricity to 50 lakh families and gas cylinders at Rs 500 must be popularised from the ground level, she said.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said, āWe need to promote our schemes and programs to the people.ā
Natarajan said, āThe schemes and programs of the government must be taken and also given to the people properly. The party workers must popularise them.ā

āDo justice to your postsā
Natarajan said, āThose who have been given positions by the party must work for the people. They should do justice to their posts.ā
Adding to Natarajanās views on part posts, chief minister A Revanth Reddy said, āAmong those who have worked for the party, some were given posts, others were not. We will give them priority in the coming days. There are market committees, corporations and nominated posts that need to be filled. At the same time, those who have positions must work for the people. It is an ongoing process. Those who are not working after getting positions, there will not be renewals for them.ā
Village level meetings
Natarajan has asked the party workers to go to every village and undertake Jai Bapu, Jai Bheem and Jai Samvidhan programs on a large scale.
She said, āParty programs should be undertaken extensively at the village level. A detailed calendar of activities must be prepared in this regard.ā
No flexis, no photos
Natarajan asked the party leaders and workers to not waste time posting flexis and photos.
āLeaders will not win elections by posting flexis and photos. They will win only if they are among the people. Our freedom struggle is the greatest example which was won not based on campaigns but by being with the people.ā
