Lok Sabha Security breach: Four arrested charged under UAPA Act

New Delhi: The Delhi Police has registered a case under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with the Parliament security breach, officials said on Thursday.

In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack on Wednesday, two persons -- Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D -- jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being overpowered by some MPs.

Around the same time, two other accused -- Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi -- sprayed coloured gas from canisters while shouting "tanashahi nahi chalegi" outside Parliament premises.

Police said the four were part of a group of six people who planned the incident.

What happened on December 13?

BJP MP Prathap Simha authorised passes for visitors as one of them hailed from his constituency in Mysuru. Two were sitting in the gallery and all of a sudden jumped in the hall and used smoke canisters. This led to a commotion and the MP's caught them.

Outside two of them were protesting with smoke canisters. They were saying, "tana shahi nahi chalenge".

The other two are still absconding and not yet identified.

The police has caught four of them and charged them under UAPA Act.

Major commotion in Parliament

As it was the anniversary of 2001 Parliament Attack, there was a major commotion as members expressed their discontent on security breach.

At the end of the day, Bharatiya Janta Party accused Indian National Congress for politicizing the incident.

The day was spent in accusing each other but not why the protestors indulged in such an act.
