London stabbing: Hyderabad student Tejaswini Reddy killed, friend injured; one held
The deceased has been identified as Kontham Tejaswini Reddy, a native of Brahmanapally in Hyderabad. She was pursuing higher education at the University of Nottingham, London, and staying with her friends.
By Sri Lakshmi Muttevi Published on 14 Jun 2023 7:02 AM GMTLondon: A 27-year-old girl from Hyderabad was stabbed to death by a 23-year-old youth, suspected to be a Brazilian at Neeld Crescent, Wembley in London.
Her 28-year-old friend suffered injuries in the attack. The duo was attacked at a residential property in Neeld Crescent, Wembley on Tuesday, around 10 am.
The deceased has been identified as Kontham Tejaswini Reddy, a native of Brahmanapally, Ranga Reddy district in Hyderabad. She was pursuing higher education at the University of Nottingham, London, and staying with her friends.
Her friend has been identified as Akhila. She was by LAS to north London hospital with stab injuries that were later assessed as not life-threatening.
On Tuesday evening, the Metropolitan Police arrested a 23-year-old man following a fatal stabbing in Wembley. On Tuesday, the accused youth attacked Tejaswini Reddy and Akhila with a knife.

He was arrested in #Harrow at around 18:00hrs today and has been taken into custody.

Initially, London police arrested two people, a 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman at the scene on suspicion of murder. The man remains in custody, while the woman has been released without further action.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley from the Met's Specialist Crime Command said: "This has been a fast-moving investigation and I would like to thank the public for sharing our appeal for information about this man. He is now in custody. I recognize the significant concern this incident has caused in the community and I would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team of detectives is working to establish what happened,"
A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.
