Rayachoti: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing terrorism probe, police recovered a parcel bomb that was packed and ready for delivery to Delhi from the house of Abubaker Siddique at Rayachoti, Annamayya district.

The seizure was made during fresh searches carried out to unearth deeper terror links.

Explosives, passports, and electronics recovered

During the inspection at Siddique’s house, on Saturday, the police also seized explosive materials, electronic goods, passports, and bank passbooks. Officials stated that the parcel bomb was professionally packed with an address label for delivery to Delhi, raising serious security concerns.

Fresh searches at two houses

As part of the investigation to trace the roots of terrorism, police teams inspected the houses of Abubaker Siddique and Mohammad Ali once again in Rayachoti. Both Siddique and Ali were arrested recently for their suspected involvement in terror activities.

Possible foreign links under scanner

Police are now probing if the accused have any connections with terrorist networks in other countries. Bandobast was arranged at their houses, and a few suspects were taken into custody for questioning to ascertain wider links.

Families of accused booked

Meanwhile, police registered cases against the families of the accused. Siddique’s wife, Sheikh Sairabanu, and Ali’s wife, Shamim, were produced before court and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. Both women have been shifted to Kadapa Central Jail, the police said.
