Medchal horror: Man injects HIV-positive blood into woman after she refuses to marry him

Hyderabad: A shocking incident has come to light from Annojiguda in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where a man allegedly injected his HIV-infected blood into a young woman after she refused to marry him upon learning about his health condition.

The accused, Manohar, has been taken into police custody and a case has been registered.

The incident has drawn comparisons to the plot of the Telugu film “Raju Weds Rambai,” which features a similar act.

Engagement called off after HIV diagnosis

According to police, Manohar, a resident of Pocharam village, was engaged to the woman a few weeks ago. However, the woman and her family later cancelled the wedding after they discovered that Manohar and members of his family were HIV positive.

Incident on March 11

Police said that on March 11, Manohar allegedly went to the woman’s house and pressured her to go ahead with the marriage. When she refused, he allegedly forcibly injected his HIV-positive blood into her using a syringe and fled from the spot.

Victim hospitalised after falling ill

Soon after the incident, the woman reportedly developed a high fever, prompting her family to rush her to a hospital. It was during treatment that she informed her parents about what had happened.

Complaint filed, accused arrested

Following the disclosure, the woman’s family lodged a complaint with the Pocharam IT Corridor Police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and detained the accused Manohar on March 14.

Investigation underway

Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain all aspects of the case. Authorities are also looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the accused’s actions.
