Meerpet corporator held for assaulting fellow corporator's husband

Hyderabad: The municipal corporator of Meerpet municipal corporation, Mudda Pawan Kumar, and his four associates were arrested on Saturday for assaulting a corporator's husband.
On 12 August, the Meerpet police received a complaint from Jilla Soundarya, the corporator of ward no. 35, who alleged that Mr. Pawan Kumar, the corporator of ward 10, had barged in while she was in a meeting with Meerpet muncipal Mayor and Deputy Mayor and assaulted her husband. Other corporators were also present at the meeting held at Vidyavoni School in Meerpet.
Ms. Soundarya claimed that Mr. Pawan Kumar and his followers assaulted her husband Jilla Vijay Kumar with a copper water bottle and also pushed her. During the scuffle, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and some corporators received minor injuries when they tried to rescue her husband.
The Meerpet police registered a case under various sections of the IPC and the SC ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act based on Ms. Soundarya's compliant and arrested Mr. Pawan Kumar and his associates who were identified as Syed Arif Pasha (28), Shesh Bhatkar Anil Kumar (36), Aluri Vikas Varma (39), and Vemula Vijay (25).
