New Delhi: After former Congress party chief Rahul Gandhi was asked to vacate his official bungalow in Delhi following his disqualification as Lok Sabha member, many of the Congress leaders and his fans have taken up hashtag #MeraGharApkaGhar campaign.

This is to symbolically dedicate their home to Rahul Gandhi. Many put up emotional messages on Twitter and posters stuck at their residence. People nationwide are running the campaign sending their love for Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi on Monday was asked to vacate the government bungalow allotted to him by April 22 following his disqualification as the Wayanad MP after his conviction in a criminal defamation case by a court last week. The Housing Committee of the Lok Sabha took this decision following which the secretariat of the House wrote to the former Congress president, a Z-plus protectee who has been living in the 12, Tughlaq Lane bungalow since 2005.


Senior Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday said Rahul Gandhi, who was served a notice to vacate the government bungalow in Delhi post his disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP, can stay in his residence. Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, said the entire country is like a family for Gandhi who has a "liberal heart".

"For people like you having a liberal heart, the entire country is your family. The feeling of Vasudhaiva kutumubakam (universe as a family) is the basic character of our country," Singh tweeted with hashtag #MeraGharApkaGhar. "Rahulji my house is your house and I welcome you. I will consider myself lucky if you come and stay," he said.

Singh has an official residence in New Delhi.

TPCC President Revanth Reddy tweeted Rahul bhaiyya, Mera ghar…Aapka ghar. I welcome you to my home. We are family. It is your home too.

Senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leader Ajay Rai and his wife have put up a board at their home in Varanasi which reads 'Mera ghar Shri Rahul Gandhi ka ghar (my home is Shri Rahul Gandhi's home).'


A Maharashtra family from Bhallarhah sent a video message welcoming Rahul Gandhi home.

One of the Congress social media coordinator, Goa Tweeted, "I have a tiny little house but big enough to accommodate u, where everything that u need may not be there, but certainly u will find peace."


Hanumakonda DCC president Naini Rajender Reddy tweets a video message inviting Rahul Gandhi home.

Actor Prakash Raj reacts on Twitter with a message for Rahul Gandhi saying, "Dear Rahul Gandji...every home who want to save our country from these tyrants is your home. India is your home. You are most welcome..more power to you..."

Retired IAS NN Ojha shared a message on Twitter welcoming Rahul Gandhi to stay in his cottage in Darjeeling hills, which has all basic comforts and nature's bounty.


Rahul Thank you letter to LS

In his communication to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Rahul Gandhi writes saying, "Thank you for your letter of March 27, 2023, regarding the cancellation of my accommodation at 12 Tughlak Lane. As an elected member of the Lok Sabha over the last four terms, it is the mandate of the people to which I owe the happy memories of my time spent here."


"Without prejudice to my rights, I will, of course, abide by the details contained in your letter," the letter read.
