MHA directs Telangana to relieve IPS officers Anjani Kumar, Abhishek Mohanty, Abhilasha Bisht
Hyderabad: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the Telangana government to relieve three IPS officers and asked them to report to Andhra Pradesh, their home cadre, within 24 hours.
The officers asked to report to Andhra include former DGP and Chairman for Road Safety, Telangana Anjani Kumar; Commissioner of Police Karimnagar Abhishek Mohanty; and Director of Police Academy Abhilasha Bisht.
During the state’s bifurcation, some IPS officers were allocated AP cadre by the Department of Personnel & Training.
However, on March 29, 2016, Central Administrative Tribunal, Hyderabad passed orders allocating Anjani Kumar, Abhilasha Bhisht, Abhishek Mohanty, D. Ronald Rose, Amrapali Katta, and 7 other IAS officers to the Telangana State/AP.
Their allocation was challenged by the DOPT, Government of India. They obtained a stay on their allocation to AP.

Come to 2024
IAS officer Amrapali Kata’s request to be allocated Telangana cadre was denied. Amrapali Kata, who was serving as the GHMC commissioner, had to return to Andhra Pradesh. D Ronald Rose too met the same fate.
Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions rejected Amrapali Kata's plea to allocate Telangana cadre.
Khandekar Committee, which was asked to review such requests, observed that the officer had challenged the approved guidelines for the allocation of IAS officers after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
The committee found that her request to swap cadre was beyond the scope of the established principles, which had already been upheld by the High Court.
Ever since there were speculations that three IPS officers may face the same fate. The orders from MHA came on Friday asking the Telangana government to relieve them.
The three officials have been asked to report to Andhra Pradesh within 24 hours of receiving the order.
