Hyderabad: A minor fire broke out on the second floor of Indus Hospital in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.
At the time of the incident, there were around 50-70 patients in the hospital. All of them were safely evacuated as a precautionary measure. While the situation was brought under control by fire tenders, the patients were shifted to nearby hospitals.
Operation theatre as the source
The incident occurred around 11 am in Indus Hospital at Jagadamba Centre in the city. Preliminary investigations point towards the operation theatre as the potential origin of the fire.
Around 50-70 patients were inside the Indus Hospital when the fire broke out on the second floor, sometime around afternoon. They were all successfully evacuated as a precaution. Initial findings suggest that the fire may have started in the operation theatre.
āWe do not know if it was a short circuit or how the fire broke out in a lab. But some nearby foam panels caught fire and because of it a lot of smoke was generated,ā an official stated.
