NTR Collector shocked after Class IX, X students fail to write in Telugu, solve multiplication

NTR District Collector S Dilli Rao was in for a rude shock when he tested the skills of students at Koneru Basavayya ZP High School.

Most Class IX and X students lacked proper writing skills in 'Telugu and failed to solve a simple multiplication problem.

As a part of a special drive to check how schools are utilizing 'school maintenance funds' (SMF), the Collector visited Koneru Basavayya ZP high school in Patamata town. The school recently spent Rs 60,000 on renovation.

Dilli Rao was upset about the renovations. It was found that the toilets were not repaired, water leakages were not fixed and tiles were not arranged.

When the Collector questioned the damages, the school blamed the students.

Class X student lacks writing skills

During his inspection, Dilli Rao visited Class X to check on students' Telugu skills. A student was called and asked to write a word in Telugu. He was unable to write it perfectly. A similar situation was seen with a few more students. Later, he visited class IX and asked a student to solve a multiplication problem. The student couldn't solve a simple problem.

Checks in all 341 govt schools

Later Collector asked MPDO, Tahsildars, and District Education officials to visit 341 government schools and check how the SMF is utilized. The officials were asked to prepare an action plan on the pending works to be completed under the Nadu-Nedu program.
