Munugode by-poll: BJP complains of delay in announcing results

Hyderabad: As the counting of votes for the Munugode by-poll began at 7:30 a.m on 6 November, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that the state chief electoral officer's attitude is suspicious.

He questioned why the CEO was not uploading the results when BJP was in the lead and alleged that "results are not being uploaded round-wise unless TRS is leading."

The MP claimed there was an unprecedented delay in declaring the results. "If there is any mistake in the election results, we will complain to the Central Election Commission," he warned.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy has apparently called the CEO Vikas Raj to express his resentment over the delay in election results.

The Munugode by-elections were held on 3 November and recorded a high voter turnout of 93.13%.

At the end of round 4, TRS is leading by 714 votes. Here are the results declared till round 4:

The resignation of MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy on 8 August prompted the by-election. He left the Congress party to join the BJP. Later, the BJP fielded him for the seat. The Indian National Congress nominated Palvai Sravanthi, TRS nominated Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) backed Andoju Shankara Chari.
