Nalgonda: A 'dynamic police team' set up by Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari intercepted a Tata Safari and seized Rs 1 crore cash on Monday. The cops seized the cash since it had no substantial documents.

"The person who was questioned identified himself as a BJP corporator's husband. He said he collected cash from Guntur & was taking it to Munugode. The money was being transported at the request of BJP leader and media channel owner MP Vivek Venkatswam. The team has seized Rs 1 crore and handed it over to the IT sleuths," said Rema Rajeshwari, Superintendent of Police, Nalgonda district.

In view of the by-poll dynamic teams have been deployed in and around the Nalgonda district. Usually ahead of any election, check posts are set up on all routes entering the constituency. Vehicles and commuters are checked for cash, liquor, or any unaccounted assets.

Earlier in Hyderabad Rs. 5 Cr hawala money was seized during checks.
