'My daughter is clean, don't spread rumours': Naga Babu on Niharika Konidela's detention

Hyderabad: In a short video, Nagendra Babu, father of actress Niharika Konidela, came out in support of his daughter and said she was "clean".
Actor Chiranjeevi's niece Niharika Konidela was amongst the 142 people detained on Sunday by the Hyderabad police during a raid at Radisson Blu Hotel. The city police have released a list of people who were detained but Niharika's name is missing from the list.
Nagendra Babu said the police took action against the pub as it was operating outside its stipulated timings. "According to the police, she (Niharika) is clear. The police have informed that Niharika has done nothing wrong," Nagendra Babu said.
He requested social media and mainstream media to not spread any unwanted speculations. "Our conscience is clear," he added.
Big Boss winner and Telugu rapper Rahul Sipligunj has also been detained.
The Banjara Hills police along with the task force raided a pub in Radisson Blu Hotel in Hyderabad at 3 a.m on Sunday. It was reported that the pub was operating after the stipulated operating hours which led to the raid.
"The license of elite clubs allows them to operate 24 hours. However, if drugs are found at the club, this will lead to the cancellation of the license. The Excise department will issue notices on Monday," a senior officer told NewsMeter.
An officer of the Banjara Hills police station confirmed to NewsMeter that drugs were seized during the raid. While most of those who were arrested were detained at the Banjara Hills station throughout the night, they were released in the morning at around 7 a.m. However, a few people, including actress Niharika Konidela, were reportedly detained until noon.
Sunday's raid followed a month-long recce by the Hyderabad task force team. The cops reportedly found and seized banned substances (cocaine) on the pub premises.
Niharika Konidela was spotted leaving the Banjara Hills police station at noon on Sunday. The police are yet to disclose the full details of all those who were detained. A Tollywood singer and several other people have reportedly been detained.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Hyderabad, C.V Anand, issued orders placing under suspension the station house officer of Banjara Hills, Shiva Chandra, and issued a charge memo to the assistant commissioner of police, Banjara Hills, M. Sudarshan, for negligence towards their legitimate duties in the control of narcotics in pubs and bars.
Inspector K. Nageshwar Rao, VR attached to the task force, has been transferred and posted as the SHO of Banjara Hills police station with immediate effect. He is replacing suspended inspector P. Shiva Chandra.
