Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha MP V Vijaya Sai Reddy and close confidant of the YSR family ends his political career.

Taking to social media on Friday, Vijaya Sai Reddy announced he will resign from his Rajya Sabha membership on January 25. His step is a big blow to the YSRCP, given that he is said to be the ā€˜umbilical cord between the BJP and the YSRCP.ā€™

Known to be among the top brass in the party, filling the gap will be a difficult task for former chief minister YS Jagan. In his retirement message, Reddy clarified that he would not be joining any political party or pursuing any other official position in the future.

ā€˜Personal decisionā€™

ā€œMy resignation is a personal decision. There is no external pressure or influence behind his choice. I made it clear that the decision is entirely my own, without any form of coercion. I am deeply indebted to the YS family, who have placed their trust in me across three generations,ā€ he stated.

Reddy also thanked former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for providing him with the opportunity to serve as a Rajya Sabha member twice. He expressed his eternal gratitude to YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the late chief minister, who had given him the platform to reach the highest political levels.

The MP thanks PM Modi and Amit Shah

The MP also conveyed his good wishes for Jagan Mohan Reddyā€™s future and expressed hope for his continued success. He highlighted his role as the partyā€™s Parliamentary Leader, the Rajya Sabha floor leader and National general secretary, emphasising his dedication to the party and the state over the years.

ā€œI have worked tirelessly and without any personal gain for the party and the state, bridging the gap between the Central government and the State government,ā€ he said, and thanked prime minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, for their support during his tenure, acknowledging the recognition he received in the Telugu states due to their encouragement.

Looking back on his political career, Reddy observed that although he frequently disagreed with the TDP due to ideological disagreements, he maintained cordial personal ties with the AP CM N Chandrababu Naiduā€™s family. He added that he and Pawan Kalyan, the leader of the Jana Sena Party, have been friends for a long time.

Plans switch to agriculture

In an indication of a departure from politics, Vijaya Sai Reddy said that agriculture is where he sees his future. Finally, he expressed his sincere gratitude to his Stateā€™s citizens, friends, coworkers and party workers who helped him along the way. ā€œI want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your great support,ā€ he stated.
