Hyderabad: “Naatu Naatu,” the most popular song from Rajamouli’s ‘RRR,’ has been nominated for Oscars 2023 under the “Original Song” category and it is a proud moment for all of us. After winning the Golden Globe and the Critic’s Choice Award, this is the third big-ticket nomination for “Naatu Naatu” this year.

The song emerged victorious against formidable contenders like Taylor Swift’s hit track “Carolina” from the film ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’, “Ciao Papa” from Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio,’ Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ and Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

‘RRR’ joins the league of Indian films that have gone to the Oscars, including ‘Mother India,’ ‘Salaam Bombay,’ ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ and ‘Lagaan’ which were nominated in various categories.

“WE CREATED HISTORY!! Proud and privileged to share that #NaatuNaatu has been nominated for Best Original song at the 95th Academy Awards,” tweeted the official website of the movie.

It is indeed a proud moment for Indian cinema. 2023 is going to be one of the best years of Rajamouli’s life. Telugu cinema has made movies that have erased the borders between all “woods” and proved that Indian cinema can go places. He has also made Telugu cinema proud.
