Naidu walks out of jail, greeted by family, cadre; Early Diwali for TDP
The medical report of Naidu indicates that he requires cataract surgery on his right eye.
By Sri Lakshmi Muttevi Published on 31 Oct 2023 11:42 AM GMTRajamahendravaram: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu walks out of Rajahmundry Central Jail on Tuesday evening to an overwhelming crowd greeting him outside. He was granted interim bail up to November 28 in the Skill Development Corporation Scam case.
His release from the jail is like an early Diwali for the TDP cadres who celebrated his release across the state.
Naidu was welcomed by his daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani, grandson Devansh, Hindupur MLA and brother-in-law N Balakrishna and other TDP cadres. He will be heading to his residence in Tadepalli.
Naidu claimed he was recommended to undergo cataract surgery in the right eye, back in June. According to the court statement, the medical report of Naidu indicates that he requires cataract surgery on his right eye.
He was asked to get himself examined/treated at a hospital of his choice at his expense. Further, he shall provide the details about the treatment given to him and the hospital where he got treated, in a sealed cover, to the Superintendent of Central Prison, Rajamahendravaram, at the time of his surrender, who in turn, shall forward the sealed cover intact to the trial court.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has restrained former CM Chandrababu Naidu from participating in political rallies or giving interviews in connection to the Skill Development Corporation Scam case.
As per the court, Naidu shall not directly or indirectly make inducement, threat, or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case to dissuade him from disclosing such facts to the court or any other authority.
Talking to media persons outside the jail premises, Chandrababu thanked all those who expressed their support to him when he was in trouble.
"The Telugu people have come onto the roads for 52 days to express their solidarity and perfomed special poojas when I was in trouble. I never, in my lifetime, forget the affection showed to me not only by the people in Andhra Pradesh and in the neighbouring Telnagana besides across the country and the globe," the former chief minister remarked.
He thanked Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan who has come out openly and extend his support and also to the CPI, BJP, BRS, the Congress and others.
Naidu has been in the Rajahmundry jail for over 50 days after he was arrested on September 9 with the state crime investigation department claiming to have prima facie evidence of the former chief ministerās key role in the alleged embezzlement of around Rs 371 crores from the Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation through fictitious companies during the Telugu Desam Partyās rule between 2014 and 2019.
