Nandyal rape-murder case: 3 minors, 2 relatives who helped dispose body arrested

Nandyal: Days after the police couldn’t trace the nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in Nandyal, the police arrested the three minor boys and two relatives of one of the minors who helped throw her body into the waters.

On July 7, a nine-year-old went missing in a village under Nandikotkur police station limits, while she was playing at a ground nearby.

After a complaint was lodged, police filed a missing case and started the investigation. During the investigation, police found that she was gang-raped and murdered by three minors studying class VI and VII.

A search was conducted with the help of sniffer dogs and the police found three minor boys acting suspiciously and took them into custody. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the minor boys confessed to police that they raped the girl and murdered her by pushing her into a canal due to fear of being caught.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Nandyal superintendent of police, Adhiraj Singh Rana said, “The remains of the girl are untraceable and the search operations are going on. During the investigation, it was found that the three minors raped the child near a temple in Muchimarri and then left her body near the canal. They went back home and informed to one of the minors father and relatives about the incident. The father and uncle (A4 and A5) in the case went back to the Muchumarri Lift Irrigation water pump house. They took the girls body till some distance, tied a boulder to her and threw her into the waters.”

It is also found that the minor boys used to watch pornography.

When asked if there is any history of the families involved in crimes, the SP said, “Muchumarri area is a faction-ridden area, which has a history of crimes. The family elders have a crime history,” the SP added.

“Though her body has not been traced, we have filed the case based on the circumstantial evidence,” said the police.

Further on, the officials continue working with teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to locate the body, with the help of underwater scanners. The police also deployed scuba divers and drone cameras.

A day before, chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced a financial aid of Rs 10 lakhs to the girl’s family. Also, a special fast-track court has been set up to give the judgement.
