Narsingi Car Racing: Claims life of a woman

Hyderabad: Car racing by two college students at Narsingi claimed the life of a 50-year-old woman. A group of students from ICFAI business school took up car racing, according to Narsingi police.

There were three students in two cars who were racing and one of them collided with a two-wheeler. The impact was so bad that the couple fell on the road and one of the cars ran over the woman killing her immediately.

The couple, Narsimulu (62) and Shanthamma (55) were from from Janwada village of Shankarapally mandal of Rangareddy district. They were returning after attending a funeral of a close relative in Shankarpally. They were traveling on an Activa bike when the accident happened.

The KIA car bearing No TS13ES3669 hit the couple from behind in a rash and negligent manner, causing them to fall, said Narsingi police. Another KIA car bearing No TS07HR2279 then ran over Shanthamma, leading to her death. Narsimulu was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Outraged villagers resorted to dharna

The incident caused outrage among the villagers and relatives of the deceased. They sat on the road and demanded justice, while the police officials assured them that necessary action would be taken against the accused.

Narsangi Inspector Shiva Kumar said that after the incident, the police seized two cars, and three accused were detained. The breath test revealed that the main accused who rammed the car into the couple, did not consume alcohol before driving. However, the police registered a case against the accused, and the investigations are going on.
