Take ‘necessary action’ against ex-CID chief Sunil Kumar: Andhra Pradesh to DGP

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh director general of police (DGP) K.V. Rajendranath Reddy was asked to take action against former Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief Sunil Kumar. AP chief secretary Jawahar Reddy sent a memo to the DGP asking him to take “necessary action” as per rules.
“The Director General of Police, AP is requested to take necessary action in the matter as deemed fit and furnish the action taken report in the matter immediately,” read the memo.
This all started after High Court advocate Gudapati Lakshmi Narayana sent a letter to the Central ministry of Home Affairs on 17 November 2022 complaining that Mr. Sunil has been violating norms and misusing his powers. Responding to this, on 3 February, the secretary to the Government of India, ministry of Home Affairs, wrote a letter to the chief secretary to take necessary action against Mr. Sunil Kumar.
On 31 December 2022, P.V. Sunil Kumar was promoted and posted as the director general of police, CID. A week later, on 23 January, he was transferred and requested to report before the government in the general administration department.
