Boy injured in Sandhya theatre stampede still in coma, say KIMS docs

Hyderabad: Sri Tej, the eight-year-old who was hospitalised on December 4 during the stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, is still in coma.
According to Dr Chetan R Mundada, chief paediatric intensivist at KIMS Secunderabad hospital, his fever spikes have reduced, and blood investigations have been showing serially improving WBC and CRP trends. He is tolerating feeds well and his neurological status remains the same.
A 35-year-old woman died and her eight-year-old son was hospitalised on December 4 when thousands of fans jostled to have a glimpse of the actor at the premiere of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre.
Sri Tej was taken to the emergency ward in a semiconscious state after he was injured in the stampede. CPR was administered on the spot by police personnel and bystanders, which was instrumental in reviving the child and enabling further medical intervention.
Following the incident, the city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theatre management under different sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased womanās family.
Recently, Allu Arjun's father Allu Aravind visited the hospital, and the family have been keeping track of his condition. On Monday, Mythri Movie Makers producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar consoled the family members of Sri Tej and handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to them.
