New signboard: Necklace Road re-named to P.V. Narasimha Rao Marg

Hyderabad: Days after the Telangana Cabinet decided to rename Necklace Road as P.V. Narasimha Marg, the authorities on Thursday installed a board with the new name.

The state cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday decided to name Necklace Road as P.V. Narasimha Rao Marg in the conclusion of the centenary celebrations of the former prime minister. "The cabinet has decided to rename the 5.5 km Necklace Road in Hyderabad as P.V. Narasimha Rao Marg to commemorate the end of late prime minister's centenary celebrations," said an official spokesman.

On Thursday, chief secretary Somesh Kumar accompanied by TRS Rajya Sabha MP K. Keshav Rao and daughter of late prime minister and newly elected Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar MLC Vani Devi, visited Necklace Road and inspected the arrangements.


The government informed that, "A ceremony will be held on 28th June, which marks the closing of the Centenary Celebrations, the statue of Late PM P.V.Narasimha Rao will be unveiled on the P.V.Narasimha Rao Marg". Authorities are yet to identify a suitable spot.
