Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled an extensive campaign plan for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, announcing a star-studded list of 40 campaigners led by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
The announcement came to light on Tuesday, coinciding with BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy filing his nomination papers, marking a show of strength for the party in one of Hyderabad’s most high-profile and closely watched constituencies.
Top BJP leaders to hit the campaign trail
Apart from Sitharaman and Bhajan Lal Sharma, the BJP’s campaign team includes Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Arjun Ram Meghwal, National General Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and OBC Morcha chief Dr K Laxman.
Other key leaders such as Eatala Rajender, DK Aruna, P Muralidhar Rao, Tejasvi Surya, and Dharmapuri Arvind are expected to spearhead local outreach programs, particularly in Hyderabad’s urban and minority-dominated pockets.
Focus on development and governance
Party insiders said the campaign will focus on the BJP’s vision of development, corruption-free governance and citizen welfare, while countering the narratives of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress.
The presence of senior national leaders, the party hopes, will energise grassroots cadres and help consolidate the BJP’s growing base across the twin cities.

The BJP’s list also features several prominent Telangana leaders, including N Ramchander Rao, Alaeti Maheshwar Reddy, Garikapati Mohan Rao, Venkatesh Netha Borlakunta and Dr Bura Narsaiah Goud.
Notable national figures like K Annamalai, Dr D Purandeswari, Sujana Choudary, Tejasvi Surya, and P Muralidhar Rao will campaign intensively in the constituency in the coming weeks.
Deepak Reddy files nomination with top leaders
Meanwhile, Deepak Reddy submitted his nomination to Returning Officer P Sairam at the Shaikpet MRO office, accompanied by Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao.
Before heading to the MRO office, the leaders offered prayers at the Vijayadurga Temple in Venkatagiri. A massive rally followed, with hundreds of BJP workers waving party flags and chanting slogans as they marched through major localities of the constituency.
Deepak Reddy had earlier contested from Jubilee Hills in the 2023 Assembly polls, where BRS leader Maganti Gopinath defeated Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin by over 16,000 votes. Gopinath’s demise in June this year necessitated the by-election.
The BRS has fielded Gopinath’s wife, Maganti Sunitha, while the Congress has nominated Naveen Yadav, setting up a three-cornered contest.
Election schedule
According to the Election Commission of India, October 21 was the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny will take place on October 22, while October 24 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Polling for the Jubilee Hills by-election will be held on November 11, and counting of votes will be conducted on November 14.
