Nizamabad revenue officer Dasari Narendar held for Rs 6 crore disproportionate assets

Hyderabad: A senior revenue officer was arrested for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) officials raided the house to find assets worth more than Rs 6 crores in total.

The ACB has registered a disproportionate assets case against the officer, Dasari Narendar, superintendent, revenue officer at the municipal corporation in Nizamabad District.

According to case details, the revenue officer has bought assets by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

ACB Nizamabad Range registered an FIR and conducted searches at his house and various other places.

During the searches, the officials found Rs 2,93,81,000 (approx. Rs 3 crores) in cash, bank accounts in the officer’s wife and mother totalling Rs 1.10 crores, 51 tolas of gold worth Rs 6 lakhs and 17 immovable properties worth Rs 1.98 crores. The total worth of the assets seized is said to be Rs 6,07,81,000. Further searches are expected to unearth more assets.

A case has been registered under sections 13(1) (b) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). The accused officer Dasari Narendar was arrested and produced before the special judge for SPE and ACB cases court here. The case is under investigation.
