Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K. Chandrasekhar Rao has hinted that the Telangana Assembly elections may be held as scheduled in November. He asked party leaders and cadres to gear up for the elections.

KCR asserted that “100 seats are ours” and that there is no match for the BRS from the Opposition due to the good work being done by the present government.

KCR put to rest speculations that he might move the Assembly election dates ahead.

“KCR garu made it clear that elections will be held as scheduled before the due date in December 2023. He said mostly like it will be held in November along with other states which are due for polls in 2023. There is a scheduled process of election notification, campaign, poll, and results. He asked the party leaders and cadres to gear up for the polls by going to the people and explaining the good work done by us during the past two terms,” a senior BRS leader who attended the closed-door BRS 23rd Foundation Day function held at BRS Bhavan in Hyderabad told NewsMeter.

Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana are going to polls in 2023. The five-year term of the present BRS government in Telangana ends on 10 December 2023. Hence, the election process has to be completed before that date.

The election schedule is of 45 days from the time of notification till the exact date of the elections.

Elections in November

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao hinted that the elections in Telangana could be held in November since the election process has to be completed before the end of the present legislative body.

“We won 63 seats in the first Assembly elections (2014) and 88 in the second Assembly elections (2018). This time we will win over 100 seats. Elections should not be by chance, but by choice. People should not elect us from among the parties but should elect only us. We have to create such an environment,” he said amidst cheers from the party leaders.

KCR asserted BRS will be the torch bearer for the country and a trendsetter in view of the immense development of Telangana state during the BRS rule.

“Coming to power for the third term is not a big task, but we should come back with a thumping majority,” he asserted.

Be careful: KCR warns party leaders

The Chief Minister also sent a strong warning to party MLAs and other leaders who have taken bribes from Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries in some places.

“I am giving you a strong warning. I have information that some have collected Rs. 2-3 lakhs from the beneficiaries who get Rs. 10 lakhs from the government. This scheme is close to my heart and I don’t want anyone to water down the scheme by such acts. Whether it's MLA or any other party, if they indulge in such malpractices, they will not only be denied tickets but also kicked out of the party. Be careful,” he warned.
