No criminal cases, Rs 42.57 crore in assets: Vem Narender Reddy’s Rajya Sabha nomination disclosure

Hyderabad: Congress Rajya Sabha pick Vem Narendar Reddy (67) from Telangana has declared that he has no pending cases against him, as part of his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat.

How rich is the candidate?

As per the declaration, Vem Narendar Reddy and his wife hold 40 per cent shares in Asthra Krishna Hospitality Group and fixed deposits of Rs 28 crore.

He declared his movable assets as Rs 42.57 crore and his wife’s movable assets as Rs 2,27,06,614.

Narendar Reddy declared his liabilities in the form of bank loans: his Rs 24.79 crore, and his wife’s Rs 1.38 crore.

The declaration also said that Vem Narendar Reddy holds a Bachelor's degree from CKM College, Warangal.

Who is Vem Narender Reddy

Narender is a senior leader of the Indian National Congress. He previously served as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, representing the Mahabubabad Assembly constituency.

A case was registered against him in connection with the cash for vote scam on May 30, 2015. When he was contesting as MLC from TDP, the other TDP MLA Revanth Reddy caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while he was trying to give cash to the Nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson for voting in Favour of Vem Narender Reddy.
