No crucial case files lost in Nampally FSL fire; Vote-for-Note case files with court: DGP Shivadhar Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, on Tuesday said that no crucial case files were lost in the fire at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Nampally.

Dismissing speculation over the destruction of sensitive evidence, he said that the investigations into the fire are ongoing.

Speaking to the media after a review meeting on municipal election preparedness at the DGP’s office, Shivadhar Reddy clarified that claims linking the fire to the Vote-for-Note case were completely baseless. He stated that all files related to the case had already been handed over to the court in 2021, well before the incident.

Server room affected, backup efforts intensified

The DGP acknowledged that the server room at the Nampally FSL was damaged in the fire. However, he assured that teams are making intensive efforts to retrieve data through backup systems.

“Even though the server room was affected, we are working rigorously to restore and recover the data,” he said.

Investigation continues

Reiterating the government’s commitment to transparency, the DGP said a detailed probe into the FSL fire incident is ongoing and all facts will be placed before the public once the investigation is completed.
