‘No districts will be scrapped’: CM Revanth dismisses Singareni Medical Board rumours
Jayashankar Bhupalpally: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday denied rumours about the abolition of districts and the Singareni Medical Board, calling such claims “false and malicious propaganda.”
He asserted that the Telangana government has no proposal either to scrap existing districts or to create new ones, and made it clear that there is no plan to dismantle the Singareni Medical Board.
Addressing a large public meeting at Chellapoor village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district as part of the “Praja Palana – Pragathi Bata” outreach programme, the Chief Minister sought to allay public fears and accused certain political forces of deliberately spreading misinformation to mislead people.
No plan to abolish or create districts
Dispelling speculation over district reorganisation, the Chief Minister said the government was not considering the removal of any district, including Jayashankar Bhupalpally, nor the formation of new districts.
“If at any point district rationalisation is required, the government will do it transparently, by informing the public, holding discussions in the Assembly, and taking suggestions from the Opposition,” he said, adding that no such exercise is currently under consideration.
He expressed confidence in the political awareness of the Bhupalpally region, stating that people here are capable of identifying conspiracies and rejecting false narratives. “Bhupalpally will be taken forward firmly on the path of development,” he assured.
Singareni Medical Board will not be touched
The Chief Minister strongly refuted rumours that the Singareni Medical Board would be scrapped, warning that such “poisonous propaganda” was creating unnecessary panic among workers.
From Adilabad to Khammam, thousands of Singareni worker families depend on the corporation, he said. “The government has no intention of abolishing the Singareni Medical Board. There is no question of harming workers’ interests, hereditary jobs, or employment opportunities,” he clarified.
Emphasising the government’s commitment to labour welfare, he said, “This government stands on the shoulders of Singareni workers. Any decision we take will protect, not weaken, their interests.”
Sharp attack on BRS leadership
Launching a scathing attack on the BRS, the Chief Minister alleged that its leaders had indulged in blackmail politics. He claimed that businessmen were threatened through phone-tapping and forced to contribute nearly Rs 1,500 crore via electoral bonds.
“BRS has turned into a ‘Blackmail Rajakiya Samithi’. The party is sinking under the weight of its own wrongdoings,” he said.
Questioning the role of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, the Chief Minister asked why former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) were not arrested despite allegations related to the Kaleshwaram project and the Formula-E car race case.
Welfare, Housing and Cultural Development
Highlighting the Congress government’s welfare agenda, the Chief Minister said that between 2004 and 2014, 20 lakh Indiramma houses were built, while questioning the delivery of double-bedroom houses during the previous decade. He announced that the second phase of Indiramma housing would begin after April.
He also spoke about cultural and tourism initiatives, stating that the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara had been organised on a grand scale as a “Southern Kumbh Mela,” attracting nearly two crore devotees. Temples from Basara to Bhadrachalam along the Godavari belt would be developed as major pilgrimage and tourism centres, with eco-friendly resorts in forest areas, he said.
Pushkarams and Development Funds
Looking ahead to the 2027 Pushkarams, the Chief Minister said comprehensive plans were being drawn up to develop pilgrimage infrastructure across the Godavari basin. He recalled the successful conduct of Saraswati Pushkarams last year.
He also announced that Rs 6,116 crore had been allocated for various development works in municipalities of the erstwhile Warangal district, and paid tribute to the role played by Warangal district, Kakatiya and Osmania Universities, and Professor Jayashankar in Telangana’s statehood movement.
Financial support to Women’s Federation
At the same public meeting, the Chief Minister handed over a Rs 205 crore bank linkage cheque to the Sammakka–Saralamma District Women’s Federation, underscoring the government’s focus on women’s self-help groups and financial empowerment.
Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Konda Surekha and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, along with several public representatives from the erstwhile Warangal district, were present at the event.
