Hyderabad: Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy among 177 retired MAUD officials to hang their boots on Mar 31
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy is among 177 retired officials whose prolonged employment with the Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) will end on March 31 in accordance with a state government directive.
Since Hyderabad Metro Rail's founding in 2007, NVS Reddy has served as its managing director. Before that, he served as GHMC's additional commissioner for traffic and transportation. After resigning from the IRAS, the officer joined the state government and was appointed a permanent MD. After retiring from his service on June 30, 2016, he was given repeated service extensions, and his current term was set to expire on June 30, 2025.
Among the 177 officers, 63 retired officers are from HMDA and 45 from GHMC, who were on deputation or engaged under contract or sourcing were terminated in this regard. Other significant officers removed from service included HMDA chief engineer BLN Reddy, who was named in the Formula E-Race case, TG RERA joint collector S Sathaiah, and HMWSSB executive director M Satyanarayana. BLN Reddy has already resigned from his position.
However, the directive allows departments to retain retired employees after the deadline only with additional consent from the relevant authorities and appropriate justification. The move follows new directives from Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari on Thursday, which directed all Secretariat departments, heads of departments (HoDs), and government agencies to fire retired employees who were employed by the government by contract, outsourcing, or reappointment by the end of the current fiscal year.
The directive applies to retired officers and workers, regardless of the mode of re-engagement or remuneration, working in Secretariat departments, corporations, boards, and other government agencies within the state. If a department still needs retired officers or employees, they must get new permission from the appropriate authority and explain, as per the memo issued by the MA&UD.
