No music in Hyd pubs after 10 pm: Telangana HC
Further, the HC questioned how permission was given to pubs to function in residential and school areas. The court has asked for an explanation regarding the same.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 12 Sep 2022 2:41 PM GMTHyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday issued an interin order banning music in Hyderabad pubs after 10 p.m. The High Court said no music should be played in pubs and bars between 10 p.m and 6 p.m from 12 September.
"No sound in pubs after 10 p.m. All music systems should be shut down by then. This order will be in place from this night," said the High Court.
The High Court reminded that according to the City Police Act and Noise Pollution Regulation, loudspeakers are allowed only up to the specified limit and no sound system is allowed at night. The High Court questioned how pubs were allowed in places where houses and educational institutions were located, in violation of the excise rules. The court has asked for an explanation regarding the same.
Further, the court asked the Excise department to file a counter affidavit. They have been asked to submit a report on which pubs in the city are using loudspeakers . The department has to submit the report in two weeks.
Recently, a petition was filed in the High Court on the matter of Tat Pub. High Court Advocate Kailash Nath argued on behalf of the petitioners.
As per the court's order, only liquor can be served in pubs after 10 p.m. The High Court has issued notices to the Commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda.
