‘Not a B-team’: Kavitha announces new party launch on April 25 in Telangana

Nizamabad: Former MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday announced that her organisation will formally transform into a political party, with its official launch scheduled for April 25 at Munirabad in Medchal district.

The party’s flag and agenda will be unveiled at a public meeting on the same day.

‘A party to change Telangana’s future’

Making the announcement on Sri Rama Navami from her in-laws’ residence in Nizamabad, Kavitha said the new party aims to act as a guiding force to reshape Telangana’s future.

She stated that the party’s core objective is to achieve a ‘Sarvodaya Telangana’, an inclusive and equitable state for all sections of society.

‘Not a B-team, we aim to be No 1’

Kavitha dismissed criticism that new political outfits are often labelled as ‘B-teams’ of existing parties. She asserted that her party would function independently and aims to emerge as the number one political force in Telangana.

“Our agenda will be practical and designed to win people’s approval,” she said, adding that the party would rise above caste, religion and sectional divides.

Consultations underway, committees formed

She revealed that around 50 committees have already been formed and discussions are ongoing with intellectuals and stakeholders. Kavitha also invited suggestions from the public on how the party should function.

Call for political awareness and public participation

Highlighting the need for political accountability, Kavitha criticised the prevailing political culture, stating that leaders behave differently before and after assuming power. She said people must question leaders who fail to deliver on promises.

“Politics today has become criticism in opposition and escapism in power. This needs to change,” she remarked.

Politics is not rocket science, please participate: Kavitha urges public

Seeking public blessings, she urged people to participate in politics, stating that it is not ‘rocket science’ and that collective efforts are needed to bring meaningful change in Telangana.

Invitation to all sections for the April 25 meet

Kavitha called upon people from all sections, BCs, SCs, STs, farmers, women, youth, unemployed and workers, to attend the party’s inaugural meeting on April 25.

She expressed concern that even after 12 years of Telangana’s formation, key issues like water, funds and jobs remain unresolved.

‘Will not rest until results are achieved’

Emphasising her commitment, Kavitha said she would not rest until she achieves results. “If needed, I can lobby in Delhi and also work hard at the grassroots level,” she said.

Recalling her past work, she noted that Telangana Jagruthi has been active for 20 years and highlighted initiatives such as providing monthly pensions to farmers and completing the long-pending Nizamabad–Peddapalli railway line.

Spiritual note and pre-launch plans

Kavitha said she believes in auspicious timing and chose Sri Rama Navami for the announcement. She also revealed plans to visit Kashi for a ritual before the party launch event.
