The program which was launched throughout the state on March 1 was initially supposed to end on March 31. Now, it has been extended till April 15. So far, around 2 crore challans have been cleared.
State Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali has said that the concession deadline on pending challans from March 1 to 31 has been extended for another 15 days as per the directions of state Chief Minister Kalwakuntla Chandrasekhara Rao.
In the last 30 days, over 2.40 crore challans whose actual penalties was Rs. 840 crores, were cleared by the motorists by paying Rs. 250 crores. 52% of motor vehicle owners across the state have taken advantage of this opportunity.
According to the Hyderabad traffic police, this move has been taken keeping in mind the serious economic hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ranganath said approximately 1,000 challans per minute were cleared on the first day. He said 80% of the challans cleared on Tuesday pertained to the tri commissionerate of Hyderabad city.
Over the years, the Hyderabad tri-commissionarate announced a pending challan amount of Rs 600 crores
To avail of the discounts, one has to log in to the Telangana Traffic e-challan portal. Here, all the challans that fall under the Hyderabad and Rachakonda Traffic purview will be listed on one side.
Discount as per the category of vehicle
-2 wheelers and autos: If 25% is paid, the remaining 75% pending Challans would be waived.
-Pushcarts and petty vendors (39b cases): if 20% is paid, the balance of 80% will be waived off.
